Trust: A New Season of LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER (#NaBloPoMo 6)

It's the LTYM 2015 Announcement Video!

One of my favorite things ever, LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER, officially kicked off its sixth season today. In addition to 29 returning cities, 10 more will be joining the line up, giving motherhood a microphone all across the country in the weeks leading up to Mother's Day. Alongside Phyllis and Jessica, co-producing the 2014 Boston show was better than I even dared to imagine, and I can't wait to do it all again. Click on that photo above, and you'll be taken to this year's announcement video.

This day in the LTYM process is a happy one. We welcome the new directors and producers, start planning for all that is to come. But what I didn't expect was to get a reminder of all that is entrusted to us as part of this process. That reminder came in the draft of someone's writing.

I can't say much to any individual that submits something (our formal process won't begin until after the new year, but you can always start writing!). I can't guide you except to say go watch the videos; go see what others have said, and let that be your guide. But I don't think she wanted me to say much anyway. I think she wanted someone to hear, someone to know. She trusted me with her story, and that is a huge part of what LTYM is all about. We hear your stories, we take them in, and somehow, maybe, a little part of the storyteller is freed in telling them. Even if you don't get to appear in the show, the submission process itself can be cathartic. And it's a huge honor for the directors and producers to get to hear your story.

Chances are, if you're reading this, you've got a story to tell too. I still can't get over that this was mine. I hope you try writing it down.
